This was posted at the WestHost forum by Mark and wanted to duplicate here so I would not lose the info and incase anyone needs the info.
There have been many requests for this information and hopefully this will help clarify a few of the DNS questions clients are having. Please read this carefully before changing any of your DNS settings. These settings do not apply to dedicated server clients.
The following are the different DNS settings you may be using:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
New DNS Settings
Primary Name Server: NS1.WEST-DATACENTER.NET
Primary Name Server IP: 69.36.161.11
Secondary Name Server: NS2.WEST-DATACENTER.NET
Secondary Name Server IP: 69.36.161.12
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Main DNS Settings
Primary Name Server: NS.WESTHOST.NET
Secondary Name Server: NS2.WESTHOST.NET
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Reseller DNS Settings
Primary Name Server: NS.WESTSERVER.NET
Secondary Name Server: NS2.WESTSERVER.NET
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Reseller Secondary DNS Settings
Primary Name Server: NS.HOST4U.NET
Secondary Name Server: NS2.HOST4U.NET
------------------------------------------------------------------------
All new accounts that were set up after August 7th, 2003 need to use the
New DNS Settings
Any account that
has been upgraded
to WestHost 2.0 and was set up before August 7th, 2003
can
use the New DNS Settings, but in most cases,
should not
have to change their DNS.
Any account that
has not been upgraded
to WestHost 2.0 will need to use either the
Old Main DNS Settings
or the
Old Reseller DNS Settings
. Either one will work.
Any account that
has been upgraded
and is using the
Old Reseller Secondary DNS Settings
will need to change their DNS immediately to the
New DNS Settings
.
Any account that
has not been upgraded
and is using the
Old Reseller Secondary DNS Settings
will need to change their DNS immediately to the
Old Reseller DNS Settings
to prevent their site from going down when upgraded to 2.0.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you site is up and working fine,
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR DNS SETTINGS
. Making changes to these settings can potentially take your site down.
