A user was trying to change the default that extension of what the server looks for when it looks in a directory and user richardz gave the following example:
Or you could open your SSH client and navigate to the following folder, and edit your httpd.conf using pico
1) [/usr/local/apache/conf]$ pico httpd.conf
or
pico /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
2) press CNTRL+W and type index.php and press enter
3) You should now be in the settings area. just arrange the priority of the file names to your liking. I have index.php as the first then it goes down the line from there.
4) CNTRL+O and then CNTRL+X
5) Done
